Swine Flu

The swine flu has not made it to Egypt yet but the government is taking all possible precautions. They have started slaughtering all the pigs in the country, all 300,000 of them. This might sound like a good idea except for the fact that you don't get it from pigs but from infected humans. I wonder if they would kill all the birds if there was another bird flu.
Another problem with this is that the pigs eat the trash. Coptic Christians own the pigs and pick up the trash from the city everyday. They are up at 4am picking up the trash and then they sort it and sell to recyclers whatever they can and feed the food to the pigs. The Christians have said that if their pigs are slaughtered then they are not going to pick up the trash. Now, this is a reason for concern because if the trash is not picked up then you are really going to have disease and pestilence.
I guess I will let these people run their own government and advise everyone out there not to get the swine flu.

Pyramids of Giza
We finally made it to the Pyramids. It was awesome. We took a taxi there and from the highway I saw them. At first I didn't think it was really the pyramids that I was seeing because I didn't think they were so close to the highway but it was. You could see them in the background. In front there are buildings. You would think that they are far in the desert but they are right there, close to the highway and buildings.
We took a horse carriage ride around the pyramids. It was about 2 hours long. We got off a couple of times and walk around a bit. At one point we climbed the pyramids. When you go there the police don't allow you to climb. It seems someone fell off a while ago, but if you go around the side no one is there and you can climb all you want and we did. We didn't get very high but we did climb. You could go in the pyramid but we decided we would go in next time.
