The place even has its own Mosque. You can spend the whole day there and still pray in the Mosque. I think we are going to be spending alot of time there.

Maadi Sports and Yacht Club
Today we joined the Maadi Sports and Yacht Club. It took some doing. We had to be approved by the Secretary General and when they say approved it means we had to go to his office to get the o.k. A new friend said that if you are Egyptian and look like you are from a village or as she put it "too villagey" then they wont let you join. Well, after several trips we joined for 3 months. Now we can go and mingle with middle class Egyptians in a nice green park. There are many sports, such as soccer, basketball, and tennis. We can also use the ladies only pool(I thought that was cool).

Congratulations on your move! When we joined the club, we joined for 3 months and we paid about 800 USD. But that was because we have a child who is over 21 and had to pay for an extra membership. So it might be about 450 USD. You should go to the club and talk to them. They have 3, 6 and 12 month memberships for foreigners. You just have to take your passport with you. Good luck to you.
Hi, Could you please tell me what is the membership cost for one person?
My main aim of joining the club is to swim over there?
Is it possible to enter the club as a guest by paying around 30 LE?

I just joined. The costs are as follows for Non Egyptians:
1 yr - 1205 USD + 274.5 LE for family. Single is 1005 USD + 255.5 LE
6 mnth - 705 USD + 174.5 LE for family. Single is 605 USD + 155.5 LE
3 mnth - Family = 405 USD + 124.5 LE. Single is 305 USD + 105.5.
What is very important to know is that the membership periods are for fixed dates so:
1 yr is from 1st July to 30th June
6 mnth is either 1st July to 31st Dec or 1st Jan to 30th June
3 mnth is 1st July to 30th Sept or 1st Oct to 31st Dec or 1st Jan to 31st Mar or 1st April to 30th June.
Thus when I joined for 3 months on the 2nd August my membership only lasts until end September i.e. 2 months so to get the best value you need to join on the fixed dates above
Now I just need to find someone who speaks good enough English to explain all the facilities to me as my Arabic is so bad :o)
